Vimes' Blood Bowl Files 2
May 30th, 2011
Blood Bowlers that I have spoken to over the years agree that not everybody gets the same thing out of the game. For some, it is painting, for others, its team development. For me, well, I like stats and recording notes on the games, and I also get a kick out of organizing and running events. Hence a blog which is mostly dedicated to this game, and an extensive Excel spreadsheet which has the results of EVERY game that I still have records of dating back to 1994. I honestly feel that every game of Blood Bowl is a narrative unto itself, and have blogged quite a number of these in recent years to share my experiences with the wider gaming community. I have seen a lot of wierd things happen on the pitch, and at times I have pulled off some of the most silliest and ballsiest plays that I could ever thought possible. Which is one of the reason that I love this game and can't ever see myself giving it up for good. Sometimes, something happens that just defies belief...
As for my playing tastes, I generally have a preference for playing the "non-living" sides, the Undead, Necromantic, Khemri and Vampires. Every now and again, I feel the need for speed, and bring out the Skaven. I have also played Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Amazons, Dark Elves, High Elves, Halflings, Norse, Nurgle, Bretonnian (two variations of), Slann, Underworld Creepers, Chaos and Chaos Pact. One of my goals now, apart from winning another tournament, is to actually play every one of the approved teams at an NAF tournament. Currently, including the 2011 Gosford Gauntlet, I have played 12 out of the 24 approved teams. I hope to get two more out of the way before the end of the year.
For the record, August 4th 1994 is the date of game one in my records. (Like I have said, I have played games before that date, just have lost the results.) I played Orcs against Humans that day and lost 0 - 2, after trailling by one at half-time. Unfortunately, the casualty count wasn't recorded. The note in my records for the game simply states "cursed by the dice", which still happens a lot today.
In subsequent pages, I have included details of some of my favourite characters from teams over the years, along with the records of my favourite teams, league results, additional house rules for leagues that I have run or co-run, and other miscellaneous material.
