Vimes' Blood Bowl Files - Favourite Teams

Jul 5th, 2010

In the 588 matches that I have played so far, I have used 79 rosters for various progressive/resurrection leagues, tournaments and muck-around sides. The most games I have ever gotten out of one roster was 24. Listed below are some of my more memorable teams, for one reason or another. All rosters are in Excel format.

THE OSTLAND BULLS (Humans) Oct 1994 - Jul 1995. Played 9 matches, won 4, lost 5. Was my first ever serious league team. The plastic miniatures I had for this side have long since gone, but the side sported white, blue and black. It played in a one again, off again league I ran for the Tamworth & District Wargames club which was never finished. The highlight of their short career was a 3-0 win over a Skaven team the round after they had several players injured and/or killed in a pitch invasion.

THE EMPERORS OF ROME (Undead) May - Aug 1995. Played 17 matches, won 11, lost 6. My first ever TR 200+ side. Played in a league which was held at a games shop in Tamworth Shoppingworld. The side made the play-offs, but were unceremoniously bundled out by another Undead team in the semi-final. This side registered which is still my (equal) biggest ever win, a 5-0 thrashing of an Orc side.

THE BRAIN EATING ALLSTARS (Undead) Oct 1999 - Jul 2000. Played 24 matches, won 11, lost 13. Played in two leagues in Gosford (at the then Wizards of the Central Coast), and contested both play-off series. The team was horribly beaten up (even moreso than my champion Skaven side), suffering 56 casualties in their second season alone! Knocked off a highly fancied Skaven side to reach the Season 2 decider but I wished that they hadn't.

THE KROOKS (Human) Sept 2005 - Feb 2006. Played 9 matches, won 7, lost 2. Dominated this rather short league which was played for most of the time at the Central Coast Leagues Club in Gosford. Their only two defeats were at the hands of a Skaven side, one of them being the season final, which was lost thanks to a rather untimely (and costly) pitch invasion.

THE FURRY PIRATES (Skaven) Oct 2006 - Mar 2009. Played 24 matches, 11 wins, 9 losses, 4 draws. I had a lot of fun with this side. Was beaten up on a regular basis, but still kept managing to score. Registered some big wins, including a glorious 6-1 thrashing of a Chaos side (which got its revenge in the second season I should add). Retired on high note, winning the third place play-off in extra time over a highly fancied Wood Elven team for Season 3 of the Corsairs league.

THE BELA LUGOSI FAN CLUB (Khemri) May 2007 - Apr 2009. Played 16 matches, 7 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws. This team was both annoying, and fun to play at the same time. Made the play-offs for Season 2 of the Corsairs league, winning the third place play-off in spectacular circumstances. Was brought out for a second run, but only played one game in Season 4 of the same league before the competition was terminated.

THE BOND VILLAINS (Undead) Feb 2008. Played 5 matches, 4 wins, 1 draw. Had to put this one in seeing at the moment, it is my only tournament winning side!

THE FEMME FATALES (Dark Elves) Apr 2008 - May 2009. Played 12, 6 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws. My first league run with Dark Elves didn't turn out too bad, with the side taking out the third placed play-off in Season 3 of the Corsairs league.

THE DEAD GERMAN PHILOSOPHERS CLUB (Undead) June 2009 - Aug 2009. Played 9, 5 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws. My first ever league winning side. Didn't win matches by big margins, but won all the same. Buried a plucky Lizardman side in the Season 3 final of the Good Games league.

XXXX (Vampires) Sept 2009 - Nov 2009. Played 10, 4 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws. My "tribute" to the world of adult entertainment. An amusing side, and one I look forward to taking into a veteran team competition if I ever get round to running one at the store. Made the final in Season 4 of the Good Games league, but were rather beaten up by an Orc team with plenty of Mighty Blow players.
